Question is relevant Going Forward because more members of the Millennial Generation voted in a political election than any other election. And a majority of eligible voters under the age of 30 cast a ballot in an election. Majority of those voters favor democratic policies. 1 in 3 millennial voters were registered in republicans. Republicans who remain tied to truth like congressman Adam Kinzinger is sounding the alarm of the dangers of his party pushing disinformation to please their king donald trump. I think people have to take responsibility for their own ability to work through misinformation, to remember what the constitution is about, to be okay with losing power for a little bit and let that actually reaffirm that you have to go out and win the next generation of conservatives. Right now, were sitting here with donald trump throwing up all this smoke screen of four months ago. We want to move on. Its hard to do when he keeps bringing it back to an election. House republicans n
Theres much more to this bill, but for now, let me make one final point. When i was elected, i said we were going to get the government out of the business of battling on twitter and back in the business of delivering for the American People. Of making a difference in their lives, giving everyone a chance, a fighting chance, of showing the American People that their government can work for them. And passing the American Rescue plan will do that. And you know it may sound strange but a lot of senators and congressmen, i want to thank, but i really want to thank the American People for making all this possible. You say, well, how did they make it possible . Well, quite frankly, without the overwhelming bipartisan support of the American People, this would not have happened. Senators pulling an allnighter, some amendments being voted on with little to do with when it comes to covid relief but it is worth noting that not a single republican voted yes on this desperately needed assistance f
American people that help was on the way. Today, i can say weve taken one more giant step forward in delivering on that promise that help was on the way. I want to thank start out by thanking the Vice President , but i want to thank all of the senators who worked so hard to reach a compromise to do the right thing for the American People during this crisis and voted to pass the American Rescue plan. It obviously wasnt easy. It wasnt always pretty. But it was so desperately needed, urgently needed. Also, i also need to say a few words about the majority leader, chuck schumer, who i spoke with many times in this and again this morning. I served in the senate, as you all know, for many years. Ive never seen anyone work as skillfully, as ably, as patiently with determination to deliver such a consequential piece of legislation that was so urgently needed as the American Rescue plan. Chuck schumer, senator chuck schumer, when the country needed you most, you led, chuck. And you delivered. N
Has become more and more clear just how damaged we as a country are. The insurrection exposed both the deepening fault lines in our population and cracks in the very structure of our democracy. It opened a wound many of us want to heal from but find ourselves quite honestly unable to. A sentiment President Joe Biden reiterated thursday on the anniversary of the attack. The way you have to heal is recognize the extent of the wound. You cant pretend. This is serious stuff. We got to face it. That is what great nations do. They face the truth. Deal with it. And move on. President biden is right here. How can we heal when our cries for justice and accountability have largely gone unanswered, when the people and the party that stood to benefit from overturning the Election Results refused to even acknowledge the realities of what happened on that day . When after a year of investigation no one has been held accountable outside of some of the foot soldiers in trumps mob. A National Healing p
Take a listen to the witnesss account of the chaos. This is sad, everyone this shouldnt have happened. An estimated 50,000 people were at this sold out twoday Music Festival in houston last night when the stampede happened. Rapper travis scott was on stage and im told in a matter of minutes people started surging toward the stage and thats when the awful stampede happened leave eight people dead. The crowd began to compress towards the front of the stage, okay, and that caused some panic and it started causing some injuries. People began to fall out, become unconscious, and it created additional panic. Theres not a confirmed number yet on just how many people were injured. I just got off the phone with a spokesperson for houstons office of emergency management. She tells me more than 300 people were transported to local hospitals from the festival throughout the day yesterday for different medical issues and some were unrelated to the stampede for things like heat exhaustion, however,
