The government says more than 200 people have been killed and a state of disaster has been declared in the capital, mexico city. The magnitude 7. 1 quake hit at around lunchtime yesterday. Mexican Officials Say 217 people are confirmed dead about half of those in mexico city. At least 22 children are thought to have died injust one school that collapsed. Another 30 pupils are missing. The epicentre of the earthquake was in the puebla state, about 75 miles from the capital mexico city it has also caused casualties in other surrounding areas.
