Nearly 10 years after Molly Burton was struck and left critically injured in a ditch by an impaired driver, the Vancouver Island woman hopes her story will help others cope with pain and disability and discourage people from drinking or using drugs and driving.
If the city approves the rezoning it would “effectively dismantle the reconciliation-based processes that we have worked hard to put in place,” Snuneymuxw Acting Chief Bill Yoachim says.
The project, which includes a hotel, towers and more than 700 homes, is among several major developments that have come before Nanaimo council in recent months.
