Supreme Court (File photo) MANILA - The Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed an administrative complaint filed against a lawyer accused by a former client of "unwarranted declarations" in an inheritance case. The high tribunal's First Division adopted the findings of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines-Commission on Bar Discipline clearing Gabriel J. Canete. In clearing the lawyer on September 21, the SC noted that the complainant, Antonio Rosaroso, "failed to adduce substantial evidence to establish that Atty. Canete violated the lawyers' oath by making unwarranted declarations against his clients, other than his bare allegations." The complainant was Canete's client starting in 1996 He was the administrator of an estate but in September 2015, Canete authorized a certain Manuel Rosaroso to receive a check amounting to PHP498,480 for delivery to the heirs.
