Nobody has turned in a speaker card. Seeing none, well close Public Comment. Is there a motion to approve these items a motion. Second. Item five, communications, i have none for you today. Item six. Board members, new or unfinished business. Wow, a remarkably silent group. Ill volunteer one thing. I put myself out there on that one. I first of all want to direct director tomlin and all of the staff on the excellent workshop last tuesday. It was really rich and substantive. And you came to a lot of new conclusions. And i wanted to share ive had several colleagues reach out to me to share stories of their commute. Ive had them express faster traveling times, and remark about the aspect they did not anticipate, which is how quiet it is on Market Street, and they could even hear birds churping on their walks. I just wanted to share that. Im sure all of you are hearing positive feedback as well. But i think it is a great success, and it is clearly have an immediate impact. Wonderful, thank
Against each of them. In quick summary, our Human Resources director, kimberly acreman, has been leading that effort, along with donte king, and virginia harmon. They have been busy creating some standards that did not exist, about treating all employees fairly. It includes written recruitment policies that make the process more transparent. Integrating diversity into all of our h. R. Initiatives. Providing better training opportunities to managers and supervisors, as well as frontline employees, in partnership with the department of Human Resources. Reviving the e. O. Process to make it more easily understandable, and improving communication and transparency throughout. We are also, as you saw last week in our budget exercise, we have a significant ask around creating a new division for race and equity within the department, as well as a significant ask of increasing staffing at the department of resources in order to meet all of these goals. I believi think were making god progress,
Last night . The committee would like to acknowledge the staff of as of geo tv who record and make this available to public online. You have any announcements . Members of the public are asked to silent or turn off their cell phones. Public comment will be taking place after each item and speakers will have two minutes each. Before i call the first item, i want to take a moment to recognize that we have had, unfortunately, 18 fatalities found in San Francisco this year on the streets. This is heartbreaking. Considering last year we were on the right track, and at this time last year the number of fatalities was six. What we are seeing, three times as many this year. I have said this before, were not just talking about crosswalks and so forth. Vision zero is about the safety of people. Many of our people are not safe, at this point, especially seeing a High Percentage of grandmothers being killed on our streets, and children and young people. This is not just a crisis in San Francisco.

This unique neighborhood, we noemie know miguels over there shaking his head like, yeah. [laughter] we know there is Something Special about the city and Something Special about the neighborhoods and to have everything to do with the people who are part of these amazing neighborhoods. And im just really excited about some of the other things that weve done and more of what we will do to make sure that we are protecting Affordable Housing in the mission for generations to come. [applause] now we all know the sad history of rewoment in our city. The community that i grew up in the Western Addition and what happened to that community. A lot of propsses were made. A lot of housing was built. But when the time came, for example, in the Public Housing that i grew up in, 300 units torn down, 200 units built and the difficulty of so many of us being able to move back to the community. You remember this joyce armstrong, what happened in the Western Addition and how it really sadly destroyed a v
