A recidivist burglar who broke into the lounge bar at Timaru’s Phar Lap Raceway and made off with an empty cash register has been jailed.
Royce Cole Tyler Morgans jemmied open the back door to the Grey Way function room with a screwdriver and stole a cash register, only to dump it in a stream after discovering there was no money inside.
Morgans, 22, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and ordered to pay $250 in reparation when he appeared before Judge Tom Gilbert in the Timaru District Court on Thursday, having pleaded guilty to burglary. ....
