Six days ago, Kimberly Steele experienced a mother’s worst nightmare. Her son, 27-year-old Shaquille Steele, was found shot to death inside a running vehicle outside a Bessemer complex. The grieving mother is now asking that anyone who knows anything about her son’s death to please come forward.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the slain man as Shaquille O’Neil Steele. He was 27 and lived in Bessemer. Lt. Christian Clemons said police received the call after 11 p.m. When they arrived at Cloverdale Garden Apartments on Clarendon Avenue, they found the victim inside a vehicle that was still running, and the interior lights were on. Steele was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:19 p.m.
