UTA engineer aims to reduce natural disaster damage to transportation infrastructure Friday, Mar 05, 2021 • Herb Booth : Contact   A University of Texas at Arlington civil engineering assistant professor has received two grants to evaluate and measure the resilience of highways, bridges and other critical transportation infrastructure networks. In the first project, Sharareh (Sherri) Kermanshachi is leading a $112,236 grant funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation through the Transportation Consortium of South-Central States (Tran-SET), headquartered at Louisiana State University. She will develop a multi-level dynamic model that measures the resilience level of transportation infrastructure networks in natural disasters. Tran-SET is a collaborative partnership among 11 institutions, including UT Arlington, across five states. It was established in 2016 “to address the accelerated dete
