City of Roseburg survey seeks input about affordable housing

The City of Roseburg is looking for ways to encourage more affordable housing, and wants to hear from the public on one approach to do that. City officials are asking the public to take a 10-minute survey about some possible changes to city code that are intended to bring in more affordable housing options in the form of so-called “middle housing.” But those wishing to take the survey need to hurry — the current deadline is Thursday, although that may be extended, said Eric Johnson, a city spokesperson. To take the survey go to http://bit.ly/37TMrfM. It was posted on the city’s website and Facebook page about a month ago, Johnson said. As of Tuesday morning, 20 people had taken it, he said.

Pamplin Media Group - Gov. Brown trying to resurrect projects killed by COVID-19 financial fallout

December 10 2020 Lottery sales tanked when the pandemic hit, but now have risen sharply; on pace to end 2020 with more annual sales than 2019. Gov. Kate Brown wants to resurrect more than 30 projects costing more than $200 million that died last summer when the state bond market collapsed during business shutdowns ordered to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Brown s 2021-23 budget proposal includes Oregon Lottery bonds set aside for projects in nearly every corner of the state. The projects include $5 million for the Beaverton Hoops YMCA program; $3.5 million to renovate Parrott Creek Child and Family Services in Oregon City; $2.33 million for a health center at Reynolds High School; $2 million for pedestrian connectors in Sherwood; $2 million for the Gradin Sports Park in Gresham; $2 million for the Hacienda CDC Las Adelitas Housing in Portland; and $1.5 million for the new Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton.
