COLDWATER, Michigan â Tibbits Summer Theatre will continue the rest of its season inside the historic Tibbits Opera House.
According to Tibbits Executive Director Christine Delaney, âBack in March, we decided to stay at The Ponds because of continuing restrictions and a spike in Covid cases. The excessive rain last week forced us to move back to the theatre for the safety of the company members, audience and equipment. We made the move in miraculous fashion with full support of the company and staff. We have followed the CDC guidelines throughout the pandemic. Those guidelines now allow us to open inside at full capacity. Rather than again make that huge transition, we will stay at the theatre.â

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) â It was announced on Monday that the rest of the 2021 Tibbits Summer Theatre season will be held inside the historic Tibbits Opera House.
After initially deciding to stay at The Ponds this spring because of continuing COVID-19 restrictions and a spike in cases, last weekâs excessive rain forced a cancellation of the opening night of âThe Fantasticksâ.
It was also decided to move the show back to the Tibbits for the rest of its run due to the safety of the company members, audience and equipment.

Christine Delaney was recently awarded the Elizabeth Powelson Award for Career Achievement by Altrusa International District Five.
Delaney was honored for her work as executive director of Tibbits Opera House for the past 19 years. She has taken the theater to great heights and is receiving national recognition, according to Altrusa.
She oversees Tibbits operations, fundraising, programming and preservation of the historic theater. Tibbits, built in 1882, it is the second-oldest operating theater in Michigan.
Delaney led the organization through a $3.5 million capital campaign and three phases of restoratio,n including an award-winning restoration of the theater’s historic exterior.
