COVID-19 continues to rear its ugly head in Greater Sudbury.
Health Sciences North reported Monday there are 21 patients admitted with the infection, including nine in the intensive care unit. Five patients are awaiting test results.

Meanwhile, Public Health Sudbury and Districts reported 21 new COVID-19 infections Monday within its catchment area. Seventeen of those individuals are residents of Greater Sudbury, while four people live elsewhere in the Sudbury district.
There have been 23 deaths attributed to COVID-19 since the pandemic began, including one in the last 24 hours and two since Friday.

Public Health Sudbury and Districts on Monday declared a COVID-19 outbreak at St. Josephâs Villa, affecting the Hillcrest Wing of the facility. Public Health said in a release it is working with the long-term care home to investigate the outbreak and ensure patients, residents, and staff are protected.Â
The outbreak is contained and there is no evidence of ongoing transmission, the health unit said. Public Health will directly contact anyone identified as a close contact and provide further direction.
