Rutland mayor seeks third term

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) The mayor of the Vermont city of Rutland has announced that he’s running for a third term.
Mayor David Allaire issued a statement on Monday laying out the issues in his re-election campaign, the Rutland Herald reported.
“My last three municipal budgets have been flat or presented with very minimal increases,” he said. “Our city finances are strong, with reserves as recommended by our auditors, and have weathered the pandemic storm.”

He touted the completion of the Center Street Marketplace Park project and a public swimming pool renovation under his tenure, his proposal and voter adoption of a $5 million paving bond and the city’s purchase of the former College of St. Joseph athletic center, which is now the Rutland Recreation Community Center.
