Opposes him. i think a better way to look at this is not necessarily pro mccarthy, anti-mccarthy. but that there is a large frustration growing among the vast majority of house republicans who are pragmatic and want to govern in some fashion who are growing increasingly frustrated that you have a small minority stopping everything up. as they look at this battle for the speaker, it s not just about the speaker vote. it becomes over every piece of legislation that they will get to. if they allow a small minority to run the show here, they know that they will continue the try to run the show on every bill that they run through the house. this is a bit of a grudge match now. they re saying wait a minute. this is a majority, it s about in the house in particular, not the senate but the house being a team player. if most of us have gotten together and chosen mccarthy, we don t care what you want or who
I think that before people get worn down and we ve seen this play out in legislative showdowns, they get dug in. this could last for days or even a couple of weeks. you re going to see both sides dig in and refuse to budge. what we may begin to see are conversations about who could step in the mccarthy would step out. conversations about who might want to talk to mccarthy about what he wants to do. those are the kind of things i might expect to happen. i don t expect to see people get immediately worn down and capitulate. the insurgents are clearly having the time of their life. this is something that they live for. they never had the numbers to affect this and now they do. this is very high profile for them. it s got the attention and almost the soul focus of the national news media as it
