MACKINAC ISLAND, MI – Visitors to Mackinac Island know that dockporters are an early, familiar sight on any trip. This group of workers meets each ferry as it arrives at the docks. They expertly stack luggage, duffel bags and mounds of overstuffed backpacks onto their sturdy bikes and baskets. Then, powered by burning leg muscles and a good measure of finesse, they deftly navigate streets crowded with tourists and horse-drawn carriages to deliver guests’ belongings to their hotels – all in hopes of a generous tip.

MACKINAC ISLAND, MI - Last year as locals and tourists tried to follow social distancing guidelines on Mackinac Island, some of the most-flashed souvenirs were face masks with the Pink Pony logo. You couldn’t walk down Main Street without seeing them at every turn, their prancing-horse design a tribute to the island’s Chippewa Hotel and its signature Pink Pony bar and outdoor patio.

MACKINAC ISLAND, MI - One of the most well-known hotels on Mackinac Island’s Main Street is now extending its 2021 spring special rates into the first part of summer.
The Chippewa Hotel, home to the famous Pink Pony patio and bar, is stretching its package deals on accommodations to cover weekdays through June for guests making new reservations. See the list of specials below for specific details.
The hotel fronts on both Main Street and the island’s harbor. Its waterfront back patio is a warm-weather draw for overnight guests and daytrippers alike. Catching the views of the ferries and boats crisscrossing the Straits of Mackinac, all under the Pink Pony’s signature pink umbrellas, is a favorite island pastime.
