Best friends who served for decades as firefighters in Lower Paxton Township have now both died of the coronavirus, their department announced Tuesday.
Edward F. Hine dedicated 55 years of his life to the Colonial Park Fire Co. He joined the department Sept. 1, 1966 at the age of 25, and filled various administrative and educational positions until his death last Wednesday.

A central Pennsylvania man who dedicated much of his life to firefighting and prevention has died from the coronavirus, his former department announced Saturday.
Lee F. Witman joined the Colonial Park Fire Co. in Lower Paxton Township on April 1, 1957, when the department was only 13 years old. He stuck with the department through 1984, and held the titles of second assistant chief, first assistant chief and chief of the department.
