Sarasota beefs up school administrative staffing
The Sarasota County School Board approved a reorganization of the district’s administrative leadership earlier this week, with the bulk of the changes taking place in the district’s Student Services and Exceptional Student Education departments.
Superintendent Brennan Asplen requested the changes, which district officials said will lead to an annual cost savings of $8,958 from the general fund. He is splitting the existing Pupil Support Services Department into two departments, one focused on students with disabilities and the other on health and wellness.
The net change is eight new administrative positions, largely focused on compliance work, staff training, curriculum development and mental health support, Chief Financial Officer Mitsi Corcoran said on Thursday.
