While Governor Brown is to be commended on the progress in the budget in reducing our states debt and increasing our reserves, it doesnt invest in supporting important and Critical Healthcare services with regards to our states historically low medicare rates. Im not just here as a supervisor to bring this to your attention, but as a member of this community. I shop at the same grocery stores, i go to the same cleaners. Whether im supervisor or not, i will continue to run into these residents because im a part of that community too. Mayors Office Housing director in olson lee regarding midtown apartments in district five. I know there are a number of residents to give public testimony with regard to their concerns about midtown. I know recent changes between the leads with the midtown Park Corporation and the city has brought a lot of uncertainty to the residents. I want to ensure everyone that this change does not impact the town residents. Their leases are not terminated. Im very committed to the five principles that the board of supervisors passed in 2007. Number one, no displacement. Number two, long term affordability. Number three, tenant involvement. Number four, ensure a safe, sanitary and decent housing. And number five, explore alternative ownership structures. Colleagues, the city and county of San Francisco have failed to ensure safe and sanitary and decent housing for the midtown residents. The termination of the lease between midtown Parks Corporation and the city has no impact on the resident leases

And i think that with a case like this its really critical for San Francisco and the city and county of San Francisco to take a very clear stand, demanding justice for julie. Taking a very clear stand that we want the district attorney, who ultimately has the discretion to decide whether or not to prosecute julie for simply defending herself, that the charges against this young woman be dropped. Charging julie is not only a travesty of justice, but it will deepen the wounds and harms all sides. It actually stigmatizes and bullies her a second time. What kind of message are we sending to our young transgender men and women that not only will we protect them not protect them when they report the harassment, but when they try to defend themselves, we will not go after the perpetrators, but criminal ize them.
