HPU Poll: Presidential Approval at 48%, Governor Approval at 50% in North Carolina | High Point University

HIGH POINT, N.C., March 2, 2021 – In a new High Point University Poll, North Carolinians gave President Joe Biden a job approval rating of 48%. A little over one-third (37%) of North Carolina residents said they disapprove of the job Biden is doing as president. These same respondents gave Gov. Roy Cooper a job approval rating of 50%, while 35% said they disapprove and 16% did not offer an opinion either way.      More than half (60%) of North Carolinians said the country is off on the wrong track. Approximately one-third (29%) of those same residents said the country is headed in the right direction. “This most recent HPU Poll asked North Carolina residents to rate elected officials as they continue to lead the country and the state,” said Brian McDonald, associate director of the HPU Poll and adjunct instructor. “These ratings give us insight into how North Carolina residents feel their elected leaders are doing their job.”

HPU Poll: Majority of North Carolinians Want to Get or Have Gotten COVID-19 Vaccination | High Point University

HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 15, 2021 – A majority of North Carolinians in a new HPU Poll said they intend to get a COVID-19 vaccination or have already had one. Almost half (48%) of North Carolina residents said they intend to be vaccinated when a COVID-19 vaccination is available to them, 29% said they did not intend to get the shot, and 9% said they already received the vaccine. An additional 14% said they did not know, were unsure or refused to answer. Meanwhile, 49% of North Carolinians said they had a seasonal influenza vaccine last year, while 49% said they did not. Of those who didn’t get the flu vaccine last year (approximately half of those who responded to the poll), 14% said they intend to get it this year and 73% said they did not intend to get it.

HPU Poll: North Carolinians Say Relationship Has Not Changed During Pandemic | High Point University

With Valentine’s Day this weekend, more than half of respondents are extremely satisfied with their current relationship. HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 12, 2021 – The latest High Point University Poll asked adults in North Carolina about their use of online dating sites or apps, given that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Thirty-four percent of North Carolinians said they have used an online dating site or app, which is higher than the 29% of residents who said they used an online dating site or app in a 2020 HPU Poll. About 2 in 5 (44%) surveyed said they know of someone who has been in a long-term relationship with or married someone they met through an online dating site or app, while half (50%) said they do not. When asked if the COVID-19 pandemic made it more or less likely that respondents will use more online dating sites and apps, 56% said they are more likely or about the same, and 34% are less likely. Only 11% did not provide any opinion.
