Residents in two citys had to shelter in place before all suspects were arrested. Were following the story and, evan, how did it get started . Reporter the scariest part is over and that these suspects are in custody but began when a Police Officer around 1 30 came across two vehicles in the Breakdown Lane on 95 and interacted with people in those vehicles wearing guns and were out and about and saying they didnt abide by u. S. Laws and that led to this standoff. Some fled Into The Woods next to the highway. Some stayed in the vehicles and had to have negotiations with police that ended just a few minutes ago with niece arrests. What we know there are a lot of guns involved in the case. Just a few minutes ago police finished doing a Press Conference issuing a Press Conference where they spoke about what they seized in the vehicles and finding a lot of guns that they can see with their own two eyes and expect to get more as they bring people back in and search the vehicles. It could come a little bit earlier. Notice the winds hang around a while. South florida the Florida Peninsula is going to bear the brunt of the storm, which was a hurricane, now a tropical storm. The Hurricane Hunters went out and found the winds were 70 miles an hour. Below the criteria of 74 for a hurricane. Ive been watching it the last couple hours. Its lopsided. You see the red to the right of the symbol showing the storm. That lets me know the storm is noting a organized. Still has the potential to bring damage. The Storm Surge Threat is very high across southern cuba. Anywhere from three feet to five feet. Im a six foot guy. Think about the water from my waist to my shoulders. Thats a three foot to five Foot Storm Surge would do. The storm is just impacting the southern tip of the Dominican Republic rather, haiti.
They saying? reporter: yeah, fred, the new demolition plan is a departure about what we heard yesterday. the new plan, try to get the remaining part to come down before the storm possibly hits this area so with the storm possibly coming through here late monday, they would like the building to come down before then, because they don t want this storm to take it down for them and possibly go in the wrong direction so that is the new strategy and the governor did speak today saying once there is a green light this process can happen quickly within 36 hours. again, this is different from what was told to us yesterday and the county mayor said that is because a new demolition expert was brought to them who knew how to do this very quickly. and what they would do is create a tarp, put a tarp over the area that s already been searched so that when the demolition happens, they can differentiate between the debris that s already been searched and the debris that hasn t been searched
