We are seeing the storm system dumping heavy amounts of snow for the sierra, before the bay area, the rain has been very spotty, and thats the activity that we are expecting. Of course, weve gotten notes that they have closed the resort but were seeing very low visibility and we are expecting the conditions to continue to get worse, over the next several hours. And we can see the cold front, that long line of clouds, that we can see extending across the region, and moving closer to the bay area, so once that gets here, we are going to see the possibility of a few more thunderstorms, as that energy rolls right over the bay. And also transports a huge amount of moisture, not only across the bay area, but also through the sierra, where we are seeing the heavy snow coming down. South lake tahoe reporting a wind gust to 39 and a gap about 5000ft. Reporting a wind gust to 41. The advise is for a blizzard warning will continue until sunday morning, expected to expire right around 10 a. M. The avalanche warning for the greater lake tahoe area goes until tomorrow morning. That may be extended, and as weve been talking about for a few days now, above 5000ft could see ten feet, maybe even 12. Snowfall today and tomorrow making travel in the mountains nearly impossible. This is what it looks like on interstate 80 at Donner Summit. Right now completely covered in fresh snow. Chain controls in effect along interstate 80 and highway 50 caltrans. No warning people to avoid heading up until after the storm. Hundreds of officers patrolling the roads right now to help keep drivers safe. If we are not getting any calls, we are constantly driving this freeway. And when we see a person stuck, we assist them. I have had luggage packed in this patrol car and people stuffed in here. We get them off the hill. We get them to safety. The heavy snow and strong winds can cause an avalanche.
