The St. Mary’s and the Missions Catholic parish anticipates receiving a permit any day now to demolish its historic 148-year-old rectory in Owen Sound and make way for the construction of a new, accessible church residence.
Neil Devlin, the parish’s building committee chair, said asbestos abatement work in the now-vacant rectory, next to St. Mary’s Church, is complete and a contractor has been chosen to tear down the building.

“The contractor is ready and waiting to go as soon as we get this permit from city hall, which is hinging on one more bit of information they require,” he said Wednesday.
