An elementary school and early learning center in the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township were closed Monday after a shooting on school property last week, the district said.
Both Mary Castle Elementary School and ELC Mary Castle were closed after the domestic incident in which an estranged family member shot a woman outside the early learning center about 1 p.m. Friday, according to the district and police.
The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and no children were hurt in the incident, according to a police report.
An alert posted to the Lawrence Township schools webpage Monday morning said students should not attend school Monday and noted there would be no virtual instruction.
