tonight we have an update on a story we bright you last fall. the desert research institute in reno has been working on its very own weather model for a while now. since september, it s been able to test the model for accuracy - to help refine it. angela schilling joins us live in the newsroom with more. angela? kristen, while the folks at dri have a long ways to go, they i last spoke with them in the fall. both on a business front and research side of the project. the model indeed looks a little bit different now. if all goes well, they hope to have a business partner within the next few months. brian speicher: everyone wants to know first and foremost how accurate you are. especially when your new model forecasts the weather. brian speicher: over about a four month time we looked at the performance of the model over reno and las vegas and compared to really recognizable names. in weather. in december the results came in, showing their in house model could compete with t

we re also following a developing story out of henry county: deputies there want to know if you ve seen this woman: 62-year-old bernice proctor. she s from ruckersville and is 5 feet 10 inches tall, around 130 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes. shortly before 4-30, on wednesday, deputies received a call about a suspicious car parked near old liberty drive in martinsville. deputies say that vehicle does belong to proctor. family members say they haven t heard from proctor and did not know her whereabouts. again, take a good look at this photo of bernice proctor. the henry county sheriff s office and virginia state police are actively searching for her right now. anyone with information on proctor s whereabouts is asked to call 911. appalachian power crews continue to work on power outages caused by monday night s ice storm. less than 10 precent of the nearly 50,000 customers who lost power earlier this week remain without power this morning. wfxr s taylor kanost is in r
