this is new day weekend with victor blackwell and christi paul. beautiful shot to start the day. good morning to you. looking at san francisco, listen, we ve got 16 days now left until the 2020 election day. 22 million people have already cast their votes. yeah. today former vice president joe biden s trying to lock in a lead in north carolina. that s a state president trump won in 2016. and president trump is trying to close the gap in nevada. he lost that state the first time around. the latest national poll has joe biden in front. his campaign manager, however, says do not get complacent. cnn s sarah westwood is at the white house. we know president trump s waking up in nevada this morning. again, he lost that state in 2016. what do we know about his strategy and what we ll see today. reporter: good morning. yeah, that state is one that the president lost by under three points in 2016, and it s perhaps a sign that the campaign is trying to preserve alternativ
affair with the president violated her nondisclosure agreement and could owe more than $20 million. president trump assembled a team for his 2020 run. meanwhile, his team has been kicked off facebook for allegedly misusing data. we re covering all of this from a lot of different angles here. abby phillip is live at the white house. we want to start with sara sidner with more details on the stormy daniels case. yeah, this is pretty remarkable because it s really the first time we have seen the president himself injected into the lawsuit. his attorneys have now filed on behalf of donald trump in this lawsuit that stormy daniels filed. but what has happened is his attorneys have filed and they are asking for $20 million in damages, saying that she broke the confidentiality agreement, and for each violation, they re asking for $1 million. that was in the nondisparagement agreement, the agreement she signed saying every time she violates the agreement, it s a million dollars.
white house for us. tell us what you re hearing about h.r. mcmaster. reporter: there is no question that the president is ready to make some changes in his inner circle. and h.r. mcmaster is someone who has been rumored to be on his way out for several weeks now, in part because he and the president have never really fully gelled in this position. and sources tell cnn that the president has decided that he wants to move forward with moving mcmaster out and moving someone into that role. the question is when might that decision happen. now, mcmaster, with mcmaster there are several decisions that need to be made. the first of which is who replaces him, who will come in, one of the top candidates we re told is john bolton, someone simpatico with president trump on policy. he s a former u.n. ambassador and a television contributor. but also mcmaster has to find an exit strategy. there say possibility of him returning to military service, or perhaps going back into the private
