Black Abbey Announces Innovative New Meat-Based Beer

Tweet Share Innovation in the beer biz has certainly accelerated over the past few years, with breweries scrambling to come up with new styles to differentiate themselves from the pack. Hazy IPAs, peanut butter stouts, pastry beers they’re all new types of beer to tickle your palate, but they wouldn’t necessarily pass muster under the strict German Reinheitsgebot purity regulations. Never ones to let anyone tell them what to do, and never afraid of a good joke, the wacky brewmasters at Black Abbey Brewing Co. have announced that they’re taking this trend over the cliff with their latest creation, Meatloaf IPA. We’ll just let Black Abbey co-founder Carl Meier tell the story from here:

Brews News: Sweet Beers Edition

Tweet Share When I was in college, one fraternity was known for offering pretty horrific free beers at their weekly parties but if you were a friend of a member, you could ask for something better, using the code word “sweet beers.” I was lucky enough to have access to the secret repository of Anchor Steams and Henry Weinhard’s, even though my own dorm fridge was usually filled with Schmidt or Red, White and Blue. Local breweries Tennessee Brew Works and Black Abbey are embracing the concept of sweet beers, but in a slightly different way. At TBW, they have partnered with local confectionary Colt’s Chocolate Co to release a new Double Chocolate Raspberry Stout in time for Valentine’s Day. Now available at their taproom, the Colt’s concoction is served on draft or in 12 oz. bottles with a limit of four per person, per purchase. They will also have a limited release of the special beer in other Middle Tennessee outlets. Brewed with raspberry and chocol
