CONSUMERS of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) should not be the only ones who should conserve water, but also the water district itself by addressing its more than 30 percent water wastage, also known as non-revenue water (NRW).
CEBU City’s Buhisan Dam has now dried up, while the Metropolitan Cebu Water District’s (MCWD) other surface water sources have also been producing just a fraction of their normal capacity amid the drought caused by the El Niño weather phenomenon, translating to a loss of 63,000 cubic meters of water per day or 21 percent of the water district’s normal production.
THE Buhisan Dam is no longer producing water, and with its other water sources also seeing problems, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) said its total production has now plummeted 21 percent.
