Nerstrand Big Woods and the Cannon River State Water Trail are a couple of the only spots to find wild dwarf trout lily, an endangered flower with a delicate white blossom about the size of a dime.
Dutchman’s breeches, which grow in three to 14 white stalks of flowers, are a native flower found in many forests in this area of Minnesota. It’s considered a herald of spring, and looks similar to squirrel corn, another flower native to Southeast Minnesota.
