A Calloway County grand jury will hear the case against the man accused of murdering a Murray State student last month who had family in Hopkinsville.
The body of 21-year old Sarah Townsend of Farmville, Virginia was found early in the morning on March 26 on Fox Road near McCuiston Drive in Calloway County. An autopsy determined Townsend died from multiple gunshot wounds.
During a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Calloway District Court, KSP Detective Trevor Pervine testified Townsend had been at a party in Murray with 22-year old Julius Sotomayor of Almo the previous night and friends said he was the last person she was seen with.

The Murray Police Department reports a 19-year-old Wisconsin man is responsible for two days of threats against the city’s high school earlier this week. Rachel Collins (with member station WKMS) has more.
Nelson is charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, 2nd degree, related to the two phone calls about the active shooter, which are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in a state penitentiary; and one count of terroristic threatening, 1st degree, for the bomb threat, which is a Class C felony punishable by five to 10 years in a state penitentiary. He’s being housed at the Racine County Jail, awaiting extradition.
