Right now 80 is closed because of several jackknife big riggs, multiple spinouts and heavy snow. There is no estimated time for it ....
Give you a live look along 80uin soda springs. Thats just north of tahoe. Here right now. The interstate is closed from colfax to the nevada state line in both directions. The section of 80 has actually been for most of the weekend. Ktvu latest it the latest route in the tahoe region to temporarily close sunday morning amid a days long blizzard in the sierra. , caltrao get in there pretty quick. Um, there was no reported injuries, but a couple cars were caught under the slide. Um, and so they cleared those and were able to open it up. I think within 30 minutes. Its why everyone from the chp to caltrans and area officials continue to put out the same message. Right now, weve been encouraging not to travel. Its been highly discouraged. And north on interstate 80, caltrans crews continuing to push ahead with their dig out of the highway along the donner pass closed since friday. Were crossing our fingers and hoping for the best. Bay on this first alert weather day. The wet and windy conditions prompting a shutdown in the sunset district and nearby stern grove remains closed going back to a previous storm. The big weather headline is a monster snowstorm bearing down on the sierra and you been keeping an eye on this all week and the storm is finally here. Absolutely. On highway 50 as you drive up, you can see how much this will impact conditions, just getting on the roads, 5 to 7 feet in places like strawberry over to myers. As we look at this system, there is a lot to unpack. Strong wind, heavy rain at times, very heavy snow and blizzard conditions from the sierra. To add to that, Cool Temperatures from the gulf of alaska. As we look at the system, rain and snow is falling in the foothills stretching into the Higher Elevations from 5000 feet and above, they can see up to 5 to 12 feet of snow. Th ....
