That s the latest from Cal Fire Tulare Unit, which announced that an abundance of dead grass and soaring temperatures is behind the temporary suspension of all residential burn permits countywide.
The suspension went into effect on Monday and bans all burning of landscape debris such as branches and leaves, officials said. Agricultural and industrial burning may still occur if a Cal Fire agent inspects the burn site and issues a permit. While outdoor burning of landscape debris by homeowners is no longer allowed, CAL FIRE is asking residents to ensure they are prepared for wildfires by maintaining a minimum of 100 feet of defensible space around every home and building on their property, said Toni Davis, unit spokeswoman.
