PG Cougars cautiously optimistic they will return to the ice soon

The Prince George Cougars along with all WHL Teams in BC are eagerly awaiting approval to begin their season.
Yesterday (Thursday), the Government of Alberta and health officials in that province gave the OK to all five Central Division teams to begin play on February 26th.
Cougars Vice-President of Business Andy Beesley told MyPGNow.com the WHL’s Return to Play plan has led to positive reviews from the provincial health office but they aren’t at the finish line yet.

WHL owners are prepared to lose money in order to salvage a mini-season.
In June of last year, the WHL announced that to start a season the league, in order to operate, would need its arenas filled at least to 50 per cent capacity.
Obviously, a lot has changed in the last eight months as the COVID-19 virus has intensified immensely.
After considering all options, the owners will take a huge financial hit once or if they get the green light to play a 24-game season.

Instead of committing to a set restart date, Prince George Cougars VP of Business Andy Beesley says the league will be better off rolling with the punches when it comes to the pandemic.
The Western Hockey League announced yesterday (Tuesday) it will delay the start of the 2020-21 regular season, after originally committing to a January 8 start date.
“It is a process, not a single moment in time. We have daily, continuous meetings, zoom calls, and discussions. There is so much work being done behind the scenes,” explained Beesley.
