Reporter good morning. These wind and rains are really kicking in since 10 00 a. M. P. M. Have gone on all night long and will pretty much have them all day long. As you mentioned, the hurricane is off shore. Were still feeling 60mileper hour wind in parts of Volusia County where im standing. The good news is this hurricane apparently is not going to have the catastrophic impact initially feared. One side of that, for instance, the power is that maybe by now we wouldnt have power but, of course, obviously we do. There is a curfew in effect by this county that started last will go on until saturday morning. 3800 people are in shelters. By and large people did heed the mandatory order to evacuate. I did run into some holdouts, people that were going to ride out the storm in their homes. They thought they would roll right now, everything appears pretty good. People have their fingers crossed the storm will stay off shore and spare the east coast of florida, which is what everybody here wa

If youve been away all day, pay attention. Im a little more worried because with that move to the north, we could now see 7 to 9 inches of rain in the sand hills with winds 40 to 50 miles an hour. Thats enough to cause problems with trees and Power Outages and of course, just getting around with minor flooding. That has me more concerned. Through most of central North Carolina, we are talking 40mileanhour winds. That could cause isolated problems, not widespread. A little less as you head farther to the northwest, and up in warren county, 2 to 4 inches with 20 to 30milean hour winds. Thats all tomorrow. No big problems today. Tomorrow we could have problems, as this is what were going to see. Go back to work and school next week. Well show you what the wind and rain will look like coming up in just a few minutes. Just under an hour ago the governor warned we could see the worst flooding since hurricane floyd and president obama declared a state of emergency for 66 counties. Reporter th

Never actually made landfall. The coast continues to get battered, as do georgia and South Carolina coastings. The heavy rain shields extends to the north some 150 miles. For us today, we just got light rain from matthew. Its not until before sunrise tomorrow that the heavy rain arrives here, because the storm will continue to move north being off the around for us. Theres the center line of the system. Ill put in the earlier track. There could have been a shift west toward georgia but not much for ughs. That shift this morning made us change our forecast. Now 7 to 9 inches of rain, 7 to 9 in the sandhills. That is dangerous flooding potential, especially with winds of 50 miles an hour. So a serious event is on the ill break down the satellite and radar hour by hour coming up in a few minutes. And this is a live look at South Carolina just south of charleston. A curfew goes into effect there midnight tonight as the worst of Hurricane Matthew is expected along the coast of South Carolin

Any time on wral. Com but right now we want to know what elizabeth thinks of all this. Boy, we do. This is so interesting. This storm has been affected so much by the steering currents in the upper levels of the atmosphere and sometimes, its cut and dried. But in this case, there has been a lot of moving parts, and we are trying to figure out which one will affect us, and even now, the track of the storm has shifted and in this case, potentially shifting back closer to North Carolina. This is a look at the the storm, and we get a new track update at the top of the hour and little has changed, moving northeast at 14 Miles Per Hour and coming past Cape Canaveral with reports of 107 wind gusts, 101 Miles Per Hour for the wind gusts in Cape Canaveral and strong winds stretching across a good bit of florida. Taking over the satellite goes. It will continue to hug the coast of george georgia and South Carolina. And here is the forecast track, closer to the coast of North Carolina saturday ni
