MAY 8, 1971 – The opening of the new Brunei Teachers’ College (BTC) in Gadong, Bandar Seri Begawan, is a step forward in the state’s educational system and fulfils a long-felt need.
The BND5-million complex situated in pleasant surroundings away from the noise and bustle of the capital has been planned to produce the quantity and quality of trained teachers the state needs for its fast increasing school-going population.
In past years the teachers the college had been able to send out to the schools had fallen far short of the country’s requirements both in numbers and standard. ....
