Apr 27, 2021 Gary R. Fellows, 68, of Brilliant, OH, passed away Monday April 26, 2021 at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, OH. He was born January 6, 1953 in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Charles and Donna (Dean) Fellows. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Guzzie. Gary retired in 2020 from Finley Fire Equipment where he was a Sales Rep. and he was a member of the Crossroads Christian Church. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather and mentor to many. His love for the fire service led him to be compassionate fire fighter, instructor and mentor. He dedicated over 50 years to the community by serving as a member of both the New Alexandria and Brilliant Fire Department. Over the years he has served every office, including fire chief, became an instructor and continued to dedicate his time to the fire service. He never stopped learning and giving to others. In 2017 he received the Ohio Fire Educator Lifetime Achievement Awar

Mar 12, 2021 DEMONSTRATING KINDNESS — As an act of kindness in showing gratitude to essential workers, members of the Cross Creek Tomahawks 4-H Club recently took hoagies, homemade cookies, drinks and snacks to the Pottery Addition Volunteer Fire Department. Involved in the presentation were, front row, from left, Mary Bender, department Chief Andrew Hayes and Charles Barr; and back, Ava Aftanas, Bryden Kittle and Avery Kittle. Mingo Council hears concerns over hydrants | News, Sports, Jobs

Staff writer MINGO JUNCTION Bruce Riley appeared before Mingo Junction Village Council with a clear message make sure what happened to him does not happen to anyone else. Riley, a village resident, was the owner of one of the homes on Commercial Avenue that burned to the ground during a multi-structure fire in the early morning hours, Friday. Issues with fire hydrants in the area complicated the response to the blaze, he indicated. It was clarified during the discussion that the hydrants in question are tied into the village’s water lines, but the area the fire occurred in falls in the Brilliant Fire Department’s coverage area.
