A flashback to school days past

Seventy years ago this month, I entered the Brewster Elementary School as a first grader. To say that it was a very different world back then would be a huge understatement. It was five years after the end of World War II and much of the country was still in recovery mode. Few people in town had new cars and not a single one of my classmates had a television set. There was a phone in our kitchen that had to be cranked to get the operator to make a connection. A long-distance call was a luxury. ....
