In opening the Financial Standard Managed Accounts Forum, MLC head of investment consulting (managed accounts) Brent Bevan explained the greatest roadblocks that stop the creation, adoption, or rollout of managed account programs.
The advice industry should work together to introduce a performance benchmarking tool for managed accounts similar to Your Future, Your Super before the government steps in, “potentially not doing it right”, says AMP Advice lead Matt Lawler.
With the regulator keeping an eye over conflicts within managed accounts, advisers need to make sure they’re not treating them as an extra revenue stream but as a service adding value to the client.
At the Financial Standard Best Practice Forum on Managed Accounts, a panel of experts have offered their honest views on whether managed accounts are delivering on the hype surrounding them.
He had also held various investment and research roles at Suncorp and Perpetual.
Jason Komadina, MLC Asset Management managed accounts director, said both appointments brought a wealth of industry experience which would further strengthen the firm’s managed accounts proposition.
“The growth of the team reflects the continued uptake of managed accounts among advisers, and increasing demand for access to MLC’s professionally managed, portfolio construction services,” Komadina said.
