Panthers spoil senior night comeback effort – The All State

ROBERT SMITH | APSU ATHLETICS A late comeback bid by the Governors was not enough in Saturday’s 62-59 loss to the Eastern Illinois Panthers. The Panthers took control of the game early behind an impressive opening quarter on both ends of the court, connecting on over 60% of their shots from the field and holding APSU to just 23% in the first. After being held to eight points in the second period, the Govs found themselves down 13 heading into the half after making just one of 11 shots from beyond the arc. On the heels of an 11-0 run to start the fourth quarter, redshirt sophomore D’Shara Booker connected a layup to extend the run to a baker’s dozen– giving her team their first lead of the ballgame in the process.

Rebounding advantage is Racers' downfall

Posted By: Simon Elfrink January 27, 2021 Jakob Milani  jmilani@murraystate.edu Due to a poor rebounding effort, the Murray State women’s basketball team lost a close game to the Austin Peay Governors by a score of 74-71. Murray State got out to a great start as the team went on a 12-0 run for 3:33 of the first five minutes. The Governors eventually got their defense together, not allowing a field goal from the Racers for 4:30 after their run to start the game. During that time, the Governors scored 11 points, while the Racers made four free throws. After the Racers made a field goal to end their drought, they held their lead and ended the first quarter up 21-17.

Walker Hits Game Winner In UTC Women's Win Over Austin Peay

Walker Hits Game Winner In UTC Women s Win Over Austin Peay Tuesday, December 15, 2020 Chattanooga freshman Anna Walker is quickly putting her mark on the Mocs’ program, banking in a shot as time ran out to give UTC a 65-64 win over Austin Peay at the Winfield Dunn Center Tuesday night. UTC improves to 2-3 overall and Austin Peay evens its record at 2-2. I am proud of several people for stepping up,” Chattanooga head coach Katie Burrows said. “That group that ended the first quarter got us back in it.  Kallie [Searcy] did some good things, was in good position defensively, got some good rebounds, set some good screens and got to the foul line.  There are so many people I could pick out individually, but that was definitely a team win.
