Santos Benavides Elementary organized two appreciation parades. Students attending the campus cheered Godines with cheers and applause as she walked through the corridors of her beloved campus. The celebration continued outdoors with a car parade, where dozens of cars filed through to wish her a great retirement. Godines has been a special education unit aide for 37 years at UISD, and she had previously worked at Nye and Borchers Elementary prior to her assignment to the Col. Santos Benavides campus.
