While the new infrastructure facility, including the Metro station, could improve the condition of the neighbourhood, some say the depot violates
the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) order that bans any developmental activities within the 30-metre buffer zone.
A visit to the spot reveals that contractors have begun setting foundation for constructing a satellite depot which will be used for minor inspections, repairs and component replacements. The project, awarded in 2019, is expected to be ready in another two years.
