Flagler County vice chair wants to remove COVID restrictions

Where Flagler County stands As of Tuesday morning, 80% of residents over the age of 65 in Flagler County and 43.7% of all residents in the county have received at least one vaccine, according to Emergency Management Director Jonathan Lord.  My recommendation has been when we reach 50% of our population vaccinated, we could relax some of the requirements, Lord said. An additional 7,000 residents would need to be vaccinated to reach a 50% rate, according to Lord. Over the last seven days, around 1,800 Flagler County residents received a vaccine; if vaccine administration continues at that rate, it would take a month to reach 50%. Bob Snyder, administrator for the Florida Department of Health - Flagler, said the county has not yet reached the point of herd immunity.

Vaccines Now Exceeding Demand, Ground Game Targets New Veins

(© Rick Belhumeur) As vaccine supply edges past demand and the rate of those getting vaccinated is slowing, the Flagler County Health Department is shifting strategies and developing what one city commissioner described as a “ground game” in an effort to more broadly yet efficiently target new veins for inoculation around the county. To that end, the department is bringing four covid-19 vaccination opportunities to Flagler Beach this week and next, and by mid-May will make walk-in vaccination available at the Tax Collector’s office in the city, off of State Road 100, on Sundays, and possibly at other after-hour times.

Flagler Health Department and Grace Community Pharmacy Team Up in More Personal-Level Vaccine Push

Grace Benet administers all vaccines at Grace Community Pharmacy, which launched a partnership with the Flagler Health Department in March. (© FlaglerLive) Organized shelves, soft lighting, plant life, and a homey atmosphere are some of the few elements that make Grace Community Pharmacy distinctive, as is this: While Publix, Winn-Dixie, CVS, Walgreens and Walmart have been vaccinating for months, Grace was chosen by the Flagler County Health Department to be the first community pharmacy vaccination site. It launched its Covid-19 vaccination campaign in March.  Having an “all hands on deck” operation, as Bob Snyder, director of the Flagler County Health Department, describes it, he jumped at the opportunity when owner and pharmacist Grace Benet contacted the department. She already had a waiting list of people wanting to receive the vaccine.
