we re learning that paul castillo may have had help in escaping from the police a short time ago. detectives served a search warrant at the tree house marijuana collective just off of 4th street in san jose. you can see the front door is boarded up and there s shattered glass on the ground. investigators believe at least two people connected to the collective helped paul ray castillo escape after he allegedly killed 60-year-old cindy wend. police say castillo carjacked and kidnapped her and detectives say a short time later he killed her and dumped her body in a garage on 12th street. now a few hours later, castillo confronted officers at an apartment complex. police shot at him, but he escaped. investigators believe that two people associated with the marijuana collective helped castillo in some way and perhaps played a role in helping him get to west sacramento. police say they ll share more information from this last weekend s crime spree sometime tomorrow. live here with

comrades. two career san francisco firefighters who died doing what they were meant to do. battle the blaze. st. mary s cathedral was filled for these two men. jean ellie is at st. mary s cathedral tonight for us. hundreds of people turned out to see this emotional tribute to the two fallen firefighters, and tonight the department chaplin told mourners if they re not ready to say good-bye, say see you later. the bodies of lieutenant perez and tony valerio get a police escort after a memorial service at st. mary s cathedral. hundreds attended the service, singing and praying. taking in the somber sight of two flag draped coffins with perez and valerio s firefighter helmets resting on top. a station that has faced tragedy before. as the members of station 26 grieved in 1995, so too we grieve today for two very important members of in a house. the firefighters lives were remembered with words and pictures. valerio is smiling that big toothy grin in pictures of him travelin

arrived here about 5:00, their families escorted the fallen firefighters bodies to st. mary s after a final drive by station 26 where both men worked. fire trucks lined the entrance. firefighters and police officers standing at attention while both flag-draped caskets were brought into the church. there were dozens of people in the courtyard standing silent. hundreds of people are expected to come to the church to offer the family condolences and pray. fire chief joanne hayes white says it is a difficult time but part of the process. it is tragic what happened but this is a time for us to remember them, to honor them and to pay our respects. it is a time to begin to heal and come strong together and move on from this, which is going to be very difficult. reporter: inside the church there are picture walls. tony valerio is smiling the toothy smile in pictures traveling the family. vinny perez is in his marines uniform, sheriff s deputy uniform and having fun on boats. the
