Bo Gia becomes first Vietnamese film to rake in VND200 bln on domestic circuit

This is the first Vietnamese movie to earn that much domestically, only nine days after its premiere on March 5, according to distributor Galaxy.
Previously, Hai Phuong (Furie), an action flick produced by Ngo Thanh Van, also made VND200 billion after appearing on both domestic and international screens. Bo Gia has shattered the local box office record of Cua Lai Vo Bau (Win My Baby Back), which earned VND192 billion ($8.34 million) in 2019.
Vietnamese movies look to score big on the big screen

Without Hollywood blockbusters in the running, domestic filmmakers have four movies set for release in local cinemas for Tet, the Lunar New Year holiday.
When the
Tet (Lunar New Year) around a month away, Vietnamese filmmakers and distributors have kicked off various marketing campaigns to introduce their wares before their official premieres in February.
Nguyen Thi Mai Hoa, Director of Galaxy Cinema, a popular cinema chain in Vietnam, said the race in domestic cinema for Tet would be interesting as there will no Hollywood products competing with these four movies, all set for release on the first day of the New Lunar Year (February 12).

Although in its infancy as a market niche, locations where popular films have been shot are attracting many tourists in Vietnam.
Thua Thien Hue has witnessed a sudden influx of tourists, visiting the filming locations of movies like Mat Biec (Dreamy Eyes) and Gai Gia Lam Chieu 5 (The Last Egg 5).
Nguyen Van Phuc, deputy director of the central province’s Department of Tourism, expressed his appreciation for the film crew who have selected the province as shooting locations, including that of Dreamy Eyes .
Directed by Victor Vu, Dreamy Eyes was released in December 2019 and became one of the top 10 highest grossing movies of the year, reaching the VND100 billion ($4.3 million) mark within nine days.
