Good afternoon, everybody. The subcommittee on water and power will come to order. The purpose of todays hearing is to examine the status and management of drought in the western United States. Approximately 90 of the western u. S. Is currently experiencing some degree of moderate to severe drought. Water has always been a limited resource in the west. We have this old saying in arizona that whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting.
