infrastructure bill. and the hang up here, the reason they re not going forward with the original plan for today is that a small handful of moderates, you heard pelosi talking about it there, wanted a cbo score, which takes days, perhaps even weeks to get back. that s not coming today. and they said they would not vote until that got back to them. progressives said, fine, wait on that and let s vote on both of them together. but instead, house leadership pushing forward, wolf, and now we will see if progressives will vote for the president s agenda or if they will hold the line and let this bill fail on the floor? unless some republicans in the house decide to go ahead and vote in favor of it. there were 19 republicans in the senate who voted for it. we ll see if republicans bail out nancy pelosi and the democrats this time around. stand by. you know, phil, the president started the day with strong economic news. and tonight, he s involved in some serious, as we just heard, back chan
in this bill have given almost no markers here. they have also given no sense of urgency, manchin talk being a pause, suggesting this whole thing could just wait. if that continues to be the way he handles himself today with the president and afterwards, i m not sure how this gets done by thursday. i think we re just talking about a very long timeline here to get a vote on either of these priorities. garrett, speaker pelosi is not going to let this bill fail. it gets pulled if she doesn t have the votes on thursday, that s the more likely scenario if they don t vote if they don t pass t it s either it passes or it doesn t get voted on, right? reporter: that s right. tactically that s not the way she likes to operate, she doesn t want to embarrass her members by putting something up and having it fail. she wants to get to a solution. there just may not be one to have if manchin and sinema are flatly refuse to go put any number out there. peter alexander, we ve been talking about
if we shut the government down in the middle of a pandemic, it s shame on all of us. it would be irresponsible and it cannot happen. we have to vote on figuring out how we re going to keep the government operating and republicans will go not my problem. it is their problem. it s every one of our problems and we all better blankedy blank come together and figure it out. we have people on both sides that are giving these deadlines. we do need both bills. we have to get both bills. the bipartisanship bill, it s great when we can come together, and there are things in there that we need the people that are supporting that can t afford to have that bill fail, but we need more on everything that s even in that bipartisan bill. today there s a report from the pediatric drama about half the children tested in this country have lead in their blood we have to get the lead out of all the water pipe lines in the pipeline that s in the build back better
say? it is not going to be pretty. there s the will rogers. people with weak strom ands should not watch laws or sausage being made but nobody can afford to have either bill fail. nobody can. both of these bills have got to get passed. they both must be passed. i think in the end everybody s having long, thoughtful discussions and when we realize that what will happen by the way, republicans need to worry about this, too. if we lose the opportunity to fission our roads and bridges, it will be a pox on every member s house, republican and democrat. as it stands now how do you see the week unfolding from what you know? there s no better master negotiator and nancy pelosi and she s been working hard all this weekend. we ll come together as a caucus tomorrow night. i m not saying it will be easy. i suspect long nights.
