Sheila Laing is retiring after nearly 45 years as a teacher. Ms Laing, who came to East Lothian in 2009, is a former headteacher at Campie Primary School in Musselburgh and Prestonpans Infant School. However, she stepped into the new virtual role in June 2019 after a call from care-experienced youngsters for more support. The post has seen her oversee the education of young people who have been identified as care-experienced. And she found herself going from a primary school head to teaching secondary students herself as the post threw up daily challenges.
