A pie baking contest, a pie eating contest and a pie auction will be held at the NEMO Fairgrounds on Monday, July 17, as part of the ceremonies leading up to the opening of the 76th Annual NEMO Fair. Pies can be dropped off at the Multi-Purpose Building on the fairgrounds between 10 and 11 a.m. on July 17 and must be entered in the name of the person who made/baked it. Pies must be homemade but pre-made crusts are acceptable.

Pie! Hands down, said Linda Hundt, owner of Sweetie-licious Pies.
“No matter what, pie brings you home,” said Hundt, whose store just celebrated 15 years in business in DeWitt, Michigan.
“There is no other dessert that truly takes you back to the holidays, and Thanksgiving, and birthdays, and Fourth of July celebrations. Usually there is some kind of pie associated with really, really thoughtful and sweet memories for people.”
