With Ali Velshi weathering The Storm. Tonight, Hurricane Ida is a category 2 storm, but a powerful one at that. Lets begin with ali in New Orleans, where the power has been out for some time, and it looks like its going to be out for a while. Reporter yeah, joshua, were in the 11th Hour since landfall of this storm, and its still whipping up. You can see this water behind me in New Orleans, which wasnt sort of inside of the center of this hurricane to start with. So its a very, very powerful storm, and its mostly hitting New Orleans on the backside of this thing. We saw It Pop Up in wind about 2, 2 1 2 hours ago, to pretty intense. It started to let off for a little while, and were still getting big gusts and bands. What ended up happening about a couple of hours ago is we lost power. We lost it in the local area here downtown. I thought it might have been central to this block or building. We learned there was a much bigger problem. It was what they call a catastrophic problem in ener

That attack and 20 others wounded. All that made it such a difficult day here all the way into friday. Thats when we began to learn, not only the names and ages, but the lives and the stories of these Service Members. That made it all that much harder. This is all part of that process in dover, delaware, at Dover Air force base, watching this final journey home, just part of it with the dignified transfers here. Its never easy to see this. Certainly, its even harder to see that many of them, one after another. I suspect even with the Secretary Of Defense there, there are many Service Members, officials, enlisted officers watching this happen around the country realizing what it means to have lost a brother, sister, colleague, service member, somebody who was part of the family here in the pentagon. Theyre so young. Some of them were just babies 20 years ago when 9 11 occurred. Now theyre being brought back to the united states in these Transfer Cases. It must be so difficult. Kaitlan,

Surge and torrential rain all slamming louisiana 16 years to the Day Hurricane Katrina made landfall. More than 400,000 customers without power right now. That number expected to keep going up as ida makes its way inland. Ida is tied with Hurricane Laura as the strongest storm on record ever to hit louisiana. The Storms Strength no match for the Mississippi River, partially reversing its flow. Lets begin with Jason Carroll In Houma, louisiana. What can you tell us . Reporter jim, we have shifted position again to an area thats even closer to this brick building, because the conditions have deteriorated to a point where we just need to be more mindful of our safety. Thats where i was standing during the last live report we did with you just a few moments ago. You can see another tree as come down over there. Looking from that Vantage Point you get a real sense of just how strong the wind is. I could stand there ten minutes ago. Ten minutes later, no longer. If you look right out here, y

Lifesupporters standing team of reporters standing by. We are in houma not far from where the starm made Land Fall. It is getting serious where you are, jason. What can you tell us . Reporter yes. The conditions, weve seen them getting progressively worse with each passing hour as weve been standing out here. Its the severe wind. Its the severe rain thats been coming down steadily. And were not even really in the thick of it yet. As bad as some of the conditions are now, if you look, i dont know how much of this reads on camera as you see the Wind Gusts come through here. But the Eye Wall still two hours away from where we are at this point, jim. And houma at this point is still in the direct path of the Eye Wall of Hurricane Ida. So what were being told is conditions here are just going to be steadily getting worse over the next few hours. So what were going to be doing is bringing you updates, obviously, as were out here. Ive reached out to Emergency Officials to gauge what theyve be

Reporter it appears we are making a connection, understandable with weather conditions. Lets go to adam he was also in the Fox Weather center. Reporter this made landfall six hours ago and is still a category four hurricane. Rarely do you see such a thing with 130 miles per hour made landfall. It is weakening of the and has slowed down quite a bit moving to the northwest at 10 miles an hour. So the slower the storm moves the more you will see the rain if there is wind in your area it will be there longer because this will be crawling as it continues to move up to the northwest. This is a path as it made landfall 150 miles an hour. Not a whole lot slowing down so far the Wind Speed into the new Orleans Area we have seen gust between 70 and 80 miles an hour. Typically it is the right quadrant with the most severe weather the strongest rain and that continues to be the case so then to continue to batter that will go anywhere soon the future Forecast Model does forecast what we will see wi
