AHS orders Bennys Breakfast Bar to close dine-in services

A Calgary breakfast restaurant that pledged to remain open for indoor dining has been ordered by Alberta Health Services to cease dine-in service.
Bennys Breakfast Bar, at 7007 11th Street S.E., defied the reintroduced ban on indoor dining until an AHS inspector shut the restaurant down for dine-in on Saturday after finding numerous violations. According to the notice of closure dated Monday, the inspector found people unmasked and within two metres of each other while waiting for a table.

Restaurant defies COVID order as Alberta tops 1,500 COVID-19 cases Friday


The newly reported infections came from 15,611 tests, representing a 9.7-per-cent positivity rate.
Case counts of more-contagious variant strains of COVID-19 also rose, as Alberta tallied another 674 variant infections.
All newly detected variant cases are the B.1.1.7 strain, first found in the United Kingdom, which is now the dominant strain in Alberta. No new cases of either the P.1 strain originating in Brazil or the B.1.351 strain originating in South Africa were detected.
There are now 5,937 active variant cases, making up 45.5 per cent of Alberta’s total active cases. In total, Alberta has 13,059 active cases of COVID-19 the most since Jan. 10. ....
