Morris has continued to fight back and speak out since resigning her seat as a state representative from Bennington. She stepped down out of concern for the safety of her family, but she has not stepped back.
The case, filed in state court on Tuesday, alleges that Bennington police violated the constitutional rights of town resident John Chinnici after they wrongly charged him with robbing two convenience store employees in 2016.
Bennington’s Community Policing Advisory Review Board has set up an internal committee for community outreach, knowing that some residents have reported unfavorable experiences with town police.
