Texas Democrats went on the offensive Friday, saying years of neglect and corporate deference by Republican state leaders directly led to a week of deadly power outages.

Sen. John Cornyn has drawn the attention of President Donald Trump on Twitter.
Earlier, Cornyn said he would not join Sen. Ted Cruz and 10 Republican senators in their refusal to certify the presidential election results unless they are audited. Cruz and his allies have repeated baseless claims of unprecedented election fraud, the Houston Chronicle s Washington correspondent Benjamin Wermund reports.
Cornyn on Tuesday wrote a letter to Texans saying he would not object to the results unless “substantial, new evidence is presented” to Congress.
“Over these past two months, I have paid close attention to the legal challenges and recounts that have taken place across the country,” Cornyn wrote in a letter to Texans. “Every lawsuit filed by the Trump campaign has failed to change the outcome.
